Gold Coast real estate: Buyers hot for Coomera hide-out of rich list doggies Pistol and Boo

Local and overseas buyers are rushing to inspect the Gold Coast site of the infamous Pistol and Boo doggie saga where Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s relationship unravelled.

Motorbike racing legend Mick Doohan’s sprawling celebrity enclave for sale is attracting strong interest from buyers thrilled by the recreational potential of the Gold Coast property.

Marketing agent, Jackson Rameau of Ray White, said well-heeled buyers were, “keeping their cards close to their chest” with offers for Mr Doohan’s estate known as Diamond Head closing May 12.

The 19ha acreage property at Coomera was the preferred luxury quarantine location for Hollywood A-listers during COVID, and has previously hosted Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Pink.

Actor Johnny Depp and his former wife Amber Heard made headlines with their court appearance over an alleged altercation which took place at the house, and hid out there in quarantine with two Yorkshire terriers Pistol and Boo. Details released during a trial in the UK involving rows between Depp and Heard included leaving their Aussie rental a “wreck” with blood on sofas, a window and $15,000 TV smashed.

Mr Rameau said more than 140 inquires had been received over the first two weeks of the campaign, leading to numerous private inspections.

“We’ve now had a good number of strong private inspections showing high interest from the buyers, who are impressed with the great views, the peacefulness and the privacy of the location,” he said.

“What is probably very appealing is the opportunity to do whatever you like on your own private property, whether it’s recreational sport or whatever you please.

“We’ll be taking offers to the closing date,” he said.

The estate has panoramic views, 628m of river frontage and a lavish mega-mansion at its heart. It is jointly marketed by Mr Rameau and Michael Williams.

Highlights include five ensuite bedrooms, heated marble floors, a 2000-bottle wine cellar, cinema, gymnasium, pool rooms, a trophy room, four offices, a six-car garage, private jetty, a landing strip for a light aircraft and a space to land and house a helicopter.

There’s a 500sq m man cave, a number of fully equipped bars and four offices on the mezzanine level.

The estate purchased by Mr Doohan for $1.7m in 1996 could, the agents say, generate a record sale for a residential property on the Gold Coast.

In 2015 it was alleged an enraged Mr Depp trashed the mansion following an argument with Ms Heard resulting in a damage bill of more than $200,000.

The couple was renting the estate while Mr Depp was in Australia filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Last year Mr Doohan opened the mansion’s doors to A-listers seeking a place to quarantine during COVID-19 in a bid to revive the Gold Coast’s film industry amid the pandemic.
